Update on Event Store 4.0.0

Thank you so much for the feedback that you have provided from the time the Release Candidate 1 went live, and a big thank you to those of you that have taken the time to build from the release branch (release-v4.0.0). This is very much appreciated.

We are aware that many of you have been waiting for the release of Event Store 4.0.0 and we want to provide you with an update.

As you might be aware, Event Store 4.0.0 is a significant upgrade from Event Store 3.x which includes

  • Upgrade to Mono 4.6.2 and .NET 4.6
  • Upgrade V8. This provides the benefits that come with the upgrade of the library we use for custom projections as well as the ability to write projections in ES6.
  • Introduction of 64bit Event Numbers. This lifts the restriction of 32bit event numbers
  • Many projection bug fixes

On the 23rd of February 2017 we released RC1 of Event Store 4.0.0 and you have provided us with some great feedback from this release. During the testing of RC1, we have identified some issues that have been marked as blockers to releasing Event Store 4.0.0.

Once the issues have been resolved, which should be in the next day or two, we will be releasing an RC 2 of Event Store 4.0.0. The Release Candidate will have a lifespan of 7 days, after which we will review and take action accordingly.

Thank you once again to everyone for the great feedback.
