Sending an event in the future

Again after watching the process managers video, and dealing with time within the process manager. It talks about using an alarm clock type service that can perform a callback at some point in the future back to the process manager.

Does anyone have any recommendations of any off-the-shelf free components that can be used to satisfy this alarm clock system, for either windows or linux?

I don’t know of any freely available ones, but depending on your latency and accuracy requirements it should be pretty easy to build one?

my requirements are very loose, just that I can wake my process managers up, in roughly an amount of time later. Thanks.
