EventStoreDB is transitioning to Event Store License v2 (ESLv2) with the upcoming 24.10 LTS release.

  • ESLv2 is based on the Elastic License v2, tailored for EventStoreDB’s needs.
  • The core functionality of EventStoreDB remains free and source-available.
  • With the new license change, a single binary will be available for all users, with enterprise features unlocked via a license key.
  • All source code, including enterprise features, will remain open for all to view, this includes the sources of licenced plugins
  • This change aims to balance open-source accessibility with sustainable business growth.
